FCYBL Alignment

Member Organization Overview

ATB is a member organization of the Fairfax County Youth Basketball League (FCYBL). We fully align with FCYBL rules, procedures, and game operations. This page centralizes the links, expectations, and reminders families and coaches need each season.

Sportsmanship is everyone's responsibility. FCYBL zero-tolerance policies apply to coaches, players, and fans at every ATB event.

Mission Statement and Operations

FCYBL Mission Statement

The Fairfax County Youth Basketball League is a not-for-profit organization comprised of 24 registered member youth clubs and recreation centers. It exists to enable the youth of its member organizations to learn, grow, and develop skills via basketball competition by playing on their neighborhood teams. The administrators, coaches, parents, and spectators should never lose focus that the main objective is to promote sportsmanship, integrity, and fairness that serves the best interests of the overall majority of the children who participate in our program.

FCYBL Operation

FCYBL provides rules, gym space, electronic clocks and scorebooks, professional officiating, a fourteen game schedule, regular season trophies, most valuable player award, most valuable coach award, post-season tournament, tournament trophies, championship game MVP, and All League Teams. Each FCYBL rule is in place to support the League's mission and the integrity of the operation of the League.

TeamSnap Requirements

  • FCYBL manages official rosters in TeamSnap (9-15 players, 4 approved adults).
  • Rosters must be accessible at every game - TeamSnap app strongly encouraged.
  • Home team enters scores in TeamSnap the same day.
  • ATB never edits FCYBL schedules or rosters on this site.

No-Zone Guidance (5th D2/D3)

  • 5th Grade Division 2 and Division 3 teams must play man-to-man defense
  • No zones, traps, or double-teams are allowed
  • M2M press is allowed until a 10-point lead (girls) or 15-point lead (boys)
  • Repeated violations can result in technical fouls and coach discipline

Game Day Operations

  • Gym doors open 15 minutes before the first FCYBL game
  • Only the teams currently scheduled may use the court
  • Coaches are the only people who may bring basketballs into FCYBL gyms
  • Home team supplies the official scorebook; away team runs the scoreboard
  • Scorers table crew is part of the officiating team-no coaching or cheering
  • Teams must vacate the gym immediately after their game

Sportsmanship & Zero Tolerance

  • Sportsmanship is everyone's responsibility across parents, players, and coaches
  • Adult ejection leads to immediate removal and suspension for the next game
  • Player ejection results in bench restriction and a mandatory next-game suspension
  • Repeated blowouts or taunting can trigger FCYBL discipline
